Tag der Schiene 2025

The Rail Carries More Than You Think!

Vossloh at the Tag der Schiene 2025 – Loud and Clear

Vossloh is more than just a technology provider. We are part of the invisible backbone of mobility. This day gives us the chance to show how important our work — and that of many other infrastructure companies—is for reliable, sustainable mobility. And why rail will remain the infrastructure of the future.

Imagine a world where rail suddenly no longer existed. No trains, no freight wagons, no tracks running through cities and landscapes. What we take for granted today would vanish overnight. People would quickly see how tiring, slow, and impractical mobility without rail would be.

This is the idea Vossloh brings to life in an AI-generated campaign film for the Tag der Schiene 2025. With humor, striking images, and a clear message, our fictional scenario shows that rail is more than infrastructure – it is the lifeline of our society. Only when it is gone do we realize how much we need it.

Rail in Numbers

The importance of rail can not only be felt—it can also be measured:

  • Local rail transport carried nearly 63 billion passenger-kilometers—about eleven percent more than in 2023. (Federal Statistical Office)
  • With more than 104 billion passenger-kilometers, total rail traffic (local and long-distance) reached a new record high in 2024. (ZDFheute)
  • Long-distance rail is especially climate-friendly: ICE, IC, and EC trains cause 99% less CO₂ than cars. They emit only 1 g CO₂e per kilometer, since they run fully on green electricity. (Deutsche Bahn)
  • In 2024, 11.4 billion passengers used buses and trains in Germany—five percent more than in the previous year. (Federal Statistical Office)

These figures show: Rail is a pillar of our society. It eases road traffic, connects people, secures supply chains, and is one of the strongest tools for climate protection.

Tag der Schiene – Background & Meaning

The Tag der Schiene is a yearly nationwide event, started in 2022 by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport together with the rail industry.

It will take place from September 19 to 21, 2025.

Its aim is to raise public awareness of rail’s variety, safety, future role, and especially its climate benefits. To do this, companies, associations, museums, and transport operators open their doors with guided tours, special rides, hands-on activities, and talks.

Vossloh invites you to not only watch, but to understand on the Tag der Schiene 2025 what we would lose if we no longer had what we take for granted.

So let’s celebrate what really moves us!
