ANY‘R

GSM-R systems locked behind costly, outdated hardware Problem description

GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications – Railway) is the standard for secure railway communication across Europe and other major networks. However, only certified railway phones (OPH) can access it – these are costly, bulky, and less user-friendly than modern mobile devices.

Railway personnel often carry two phones: one for GSM-R communication and another for regular use. This creates inefficiencies and increases both equipment costs and complexity. Off-the-shelf smartphones are incompatible with GSM-R, making direct integration impossible.

GSM-R access without expensive specialized devices Our Solution

ANY’R is a compact gateway that connects Android smartphones to the GSM-R network, removing the need for railway-specific phones. With just two buttons and a multicolored LED, it enables secure calls via Bluetooth pairing and app control. The device is self-powered, IP66-rated, and supports up to eight hours of use, making it an efficient and user-friendly communication tool for mobile teams and railway personnel.

How it works

Enables GSM-R calls via Android smartphones

Connects through Bluetooth with a simple pairing process

IP66-rated, compact, and ruggedized for field use

Intuitive LED-based status feedback (color-coded)

Integrated rechargeable battery for 8-hour autonomy

Easily switches between GSM and GSM-R networks

Hardware

ANY’R is a robust, lightweight device (200 g) that acts as a Bluetooth bridge between Android smartphones and the GSM-R network. It uses a mini SIM (2FF) and offers 8 hours of active GSM-R communication on a single charge, recharged via USB-C.

Built for demanding railway environments, it’s IP66-rated, operates from -20°C to +50°C, and meets IK04 mechanical resistance standards. Its minimalistic interface features two push buttons – for power and Bluetooth pairing – and a multicolor LED zone that indicates current status, operating mode, and connectivity state.

The Android app complements the hardware, displaying network selection (GSM or GSM-R), real-time connection status, and a clean activity display for ease of use. Together, the app and hardware provide seamless, secure voice communication without compromising user experience or performance.

ANY’R is ideal for mobile maintenance units and rail field workers requiring GSM-R access without legacy equipment.
